IDF Taiwan 2007 - The Inquirer reports that Charles Wirth a.k.a Fugger, owner of xtremesystems.org, overclocked Intel's 3.2 GHz FSB1600 Yorkfield Extreme with the same 200-pound cooling gear (pic below), and broke the 5.8 GHz barrier. The previous record was 5.56GHz on a 3GHz X9650 Yorkfield Extreme.
Over at VR-Zone's forum, Shamimo, the forum's moderator and overclocking genius hits 6Ghz with 429 FSB. "Funny thing doesn't boot into windows at 6 gig", he said. But runs superpi 1M at 5.97gig: 22seconds! Running through a loop of 3D Mark at 5.8Ghz, with just 595/1350.
Amazing chip, really!
