The letter "i" is very popular these days. It's popular in the tech industry - iPod, iTunes, iPhoto and now introducing i7. :)
Intel unveiled its new Core processor brand, previously codenamed "Nehalem", it will be called Core i7 now.
i7 “does not have any deeper meaning”, according to Intel representatives, is the successor of the Core 2 Duo.
"The Core name is and will be our flagship PC processor brand going forward," said Sean Maloney, Intel Corporation executive vice president and general manager, sales and marketing group. "Expect Intel to focus even more marketing resources around that name and the Core i7 products starting now."
The new architecture will initially be available in quad-versions only.
